Electronic Projection

For months, even years, we have been eager to make the transition from using 35mm photographic slides over to electronic projection. Praise be to God!! That transition has now taken place. Electronic projection utilizes a video projector and a laptop computer to project slides using Power Point software. There were three requirements that we felt had to be met before we could make the change to electronic projection. First, the projector needed to project an image with at least as much screen brightness or illumination as was possible with the 35 mm photographic slide projector we had been using. Second, the image resolution while projecting photographic images needed to be of high quality and not jagged or ‘pixilated" as many projectors and computers provided. Third, the projector needed to be easily portable and of such size that it would readily fit the size restrictions for airline carry-on luggage. This is the first year that all three requirements could easily be met in an electronic projector. Although an acceptable projector was very expensive, and the process of converting slides to digital format was very time-consuming, the Lord answered prayer and provided even above and beyond our expectation. The necessary funds for the projector were donated. Also Bryce Fish has donated voluminous amounts of time and much talent to help with putting the material into Power Point format. Others donated funds for a new digital camera and radio remote control device for the projector. Give thanks with us for answered prayer.

Ancient High Tech ?

An amazing archaeological discovery of a 3000-year-old harbor on the northern coast of Australia has been made this year. Scientists claim the discovery is set to change Australian, if not world history. Evidence indicates that the area’s rich mineral deposits attracted Phoenicians to the area of northern Queensland more than 2,700 years before Captain Cook. The ancient harbor contained huge sea walls designed to allow exporting by sea. The wall at Saring was about 1/2 mile long and was constructed of boulders and polished granite set in iron slag cement and copper slags. "It is a monstrous thing; you could put three 200-foot ships end-to-end in there.

It’s as calm as a millpond and beautifully engineered." This discovery totally destroys the idea that the ancients were "primitive" in their technology. One might ask how the Phoenicians even knew that minerals were located in the area and how they knew of the sophisticated technology to mine, smelt, and ship products by sea from the area. Prayer

Please join with us in giving God thanks for enabling conversions to electronic projection. Give thanks with us for the several opportunities in public schools and colleges and universities. Please pray for continued opportunities for us to minister in public schools, colleges , and universities.

As people pray, we are privileged to watch God work. Prayer is vital. It is the key to reaching our pagan culture with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our basic message is:

We were created; we have fallen, and therefore need a Savior.

Special Prayer Need

Requests for videotapes of our seminars are becoming quite numerous. Therefore we feel that we should begin to work towards making videotapes available. A large hindrance in the way of reaching that goal has been that numerous of the 35mm slides we have been using are copyrighted. They were either purchased commercially or were photographs of copyrighted material. Although we have been making some progress towards securing copyright-free slides, very much remains to be done. Because of a full speaking schedule and other aspects of our ministry, we simply have not had sufficient time available to devote to a videotaping project. Also the conversion over to Power Point format is not yet complete and still consumes a great deal of time. However, our God is sufficient to meet our needs. We shall appreciate your prayers.
