Spring / Summer 2004

Activity Summary

It has been about six months since a Creation Compass Newsletter was sent out with our seminar schedule up through the end of January. However the months of February, March, and April were very full with seminar activities. We believe that it was through God's grace and answers to prayers that we have been allowed to be blessed with an active schedule, which averaged about ten seminars per month during February through April. Thank you for praying!

Prayer Answers

  1. Opportunities to speak at four universities or colleges
  2. Personal testimonies from several of changed lives or commitments to our risen Savior
  3. Safety and God's protection during many miles of travel
  4. Health and energy to continue our ministry
  5. Arrangements for professionally videotaping several seminar presentations this summer.

Prayer Needs

  1. The videotaping of presentations this summer
  2. Opportunities to present the truth of Biblical Creation not only to church groups, but especially for more opportunities in public schools and universities.
  3. Don's ophthalmologist indicated that Don will need cataract surgery in the near future. Please pray for a positive outcome.
  4. Updating and re-publishing of our book The Puzzle of Ancient Man

Ancient Technology

Evidence continues to come in at a seemingly increasing rate that ancient man developed and utilized what we today would term advanced science and technology. The developing evidence is quite a surprise to the modern mindset. According to modern cultural thinking, modern man is vastly superior to our forebears. We have been accustomed to thinking that man ascended up slowly from animals over a very long period of time. This manner of thinking is even reflected in the way we speak and communicate. For example, expressions such as “back in the stone age” or “cave man” are used when it is intended to convey the idea that the ancients were vastly inferior or “primitive” compared to present day man. It is what I like to refer to as cultural chauvinism.

However, the facts of the case continually challenge the idea that early man was “primitive.” Rather than using “primitive man” as a pejorative, maybe the term should be considered a compliment!

Consider for example the design and construction of ancient huge stone megaliths such as Egyptian pyramids. The idea of using “primitive” construction methods flies in the face of reality.

On the other hand, there are some hints of how large stone structures may have been built. “Egyptologists and orthodox believers of primitive methods argue that the huge [pyramid] blocks were moved and positioned using only manpower, but experts in moving heavy weights using modern cranes throw doubt on their theory. … the debate becomes more meaningful when a proposed alternate method is demonstrated and proven to be successful. For that proof we must turn to the one man in the world who, by demonstration, has supported the claim ‘I know the secret of the how the pyramids of Egypt were built!’ That man was an eccentric Latvian who immigrated to the United States and who is now deceased.” (Christopher Dunn, The Giza Power Plant: Technologies of Ancient Egypt, Bear & Company, Rochester, Vermont, 1998, p. 109)

The Coral Castle is located in Homestead, Florida near Miami. It has baffled scientists, engineers, and scholars since its opening in 1923. How could a five-foot tall, 100 pound man single-handedly carve and move such incredible amounts of coral rock? An example is the 9-ton gate that swings open with the touch of a finger.

Or consider what is being learned about indications that technically sophisticated equipment such as lathes were used in constructing parts of items found in the Egyptian pyramids. “There is also evidence of clearly defined lathe tool marks on some ‘sarcophagi’ lids.” (op. cit. p. 71-72)

The likelihood of high technology and “advanced” building techniques in ancient times is not a surprise if we believe the Biblical account of creation. The Bible informs us that man was created in the image of God. As created, man had excellent mental capabilities. Early in man's history he possessed organized agriculture, the arts, and science. (Genesis 4:20-22)

Special Thanks

We extend a special thank-you to all who have notified us of their willingness to receive our Creation Compass Newsletter by e-mail. That has not only made our work of mailing a lot easier, but it has also saved us considerable expense. Thank you! Thank you also for your interest in us and our ministry.
